Trust, Safety & Security

Last updated: June 8, 2026

Trust is the foundation of a directory. This policy explains the measures we take to keep the platform, its data, business owners, and the public safe — and how to report a concern or a security issue.

1. Our commitment

FindIt501 is built so that Belizeans can discover local businesses with confidence, and so that business owners can manage their presence safely. We design the Service around three principles: collect the minimum data necessary, protect what we hold, and act quickly on reports of abuse or security issues.

2. Platform & account security

  • Encrypted connections. All traffic to and from the Service is served over HTTPS, encrypting data in transit.
  • Secure accounts. Owner and administrator accounts use email-and-password authentication through a dedicated provider. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes — never in plain text, and never visible to us.
  • Administrator safeguards. The admin control center is restricted to authorized accounts, re-checks authorization on every sensitive action, and automatically signs an administrator out after a period of inactivity.
  • Least-privilege secrets. Sensitive keys (database service role, mail credentials, scheduled-job secrets) are stored as server-side environment variables, never exposed to the browser, and used only by trusted server code.
  • Separation of duties. Public visitors, signed-in owners, and administrators each have strictly different levels of access enforced on the server, not just in the interface.

3. How we protect data

  • Data minimization. We collect as little personal information as possible to run the Service.
  • Privacy-preserving analytics. Visitor analytics use a one-way hash that rotates daily; we do not store IP addresses or browser user-agents, and the hash cannot be reversed to identify a person.
  • No card data. We do not process card payments on the platform and do not collect or store card numbers, PINs, or online-banking passwords.
  • Access controls. Database access is governed by row-level security and server-only keys, so sensitive tables (such as orders and analytics) are reachable only by trusted server code.
  • Backups & version control. The platform code is version-controlled and the running version can be rolled back quickly if a problem is found.

Full details of what we collect and why are in our Privacy Policy.

4. Payment safety — how to stay safe

Paid memberships are settled by bank transfer or direct invoice in Belize Dollars. To protect you from fraud, please remember:

  • We will never ask for your online-banking password, card PIN, full card number, or a one-time security code.
  • Official payment requests come only from our address ending in @findit501.com and reference your business and plan.
  • If a message asking for payment looks unusual, do not act on it — verify first by contacting us directly at info@findit501.com.
  • A receipt is issued for every confirmed payment. If you paid but did not receive one, contact us.

5. Listing integrity & verification

  • A “Verified” badge means an owner has claimed the listing and we have taken reasonable steps to confirm their connection to the business. It is not a guarantee of the quality, licensing, or conduct of the business.
  • Only a person who owns or is authorized to represent a business may claim it. We may request proof of ownership before verifying or unlocking features.
  • We act on reports of impersonation, hijacked listings, or false claims, and may suspend a listing or account while we investigate.

6. Review integrity

Reviews must reflect genuine, first-hand experiences. We prohibit fake, paid, incentivized, or retaliatory reviews, and reviews that are defamatory, contain private information, or are not about a real customer experience. We use basic measures to limit duplicate submissions and may moderate or remove content that breaks our Terms of Service. Paying for a membership never affects whether a review stays up.

7. Anti-fraud & abuse

We work to keep the directory trustworthy. We may, at our discretion:

  • Remove or restrict listings, reviews, or accounts that are fraudulent, deceptive, or harmful.
  • Rate-limit or block automated scraping, probing, or attempts to overload the Service.
  • Investigate and act on reports of scams, impersonation, or misuse of the Service.

8. Staying safe when you contact a business

FindIt501 is a directory; transactions are between you and the business. To protect yourself:

  • Verify a business’s details and credentials independently before paying or sharing sensitive information.
  • Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true, or requests for unusual payment methods or upfront deposits.
  • For professional services (medical, legal, financial), confirm the provider’s licensing and suitability directly.
  • Meet in safe, public places where appropriate, and trust your judgment.

9. Reporting a problem or a security issue

If you spot a scam, an impersonated or incorrect listing, abusive content, or anything that puts users at risk, email info@findit501.com with the listing link and details. We treat these reports as a priority.

Responsible disclosure of security vulnerabilities

If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please report it privately to info@findit501.comwith enough detail to reproduce it, and give us a reasonable opportunity to investigate and fix it before any public disclosure. Please do not access or modify other users’ data, degrade the Service, or use automated attacks. We appreciate good-faith research and will acknowledge valid reports.

10. Incident response

If we become aware of a security incident that affects personal information, we will investigate, take steps to contain and remediate it, and notify affected users and any authorities where required by law.

11. Changes & contact

We may update this policy as the Service evolves; the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version. This policy is governed by the laws of Belize. Questions or reports: info@findit501.com.
